The Santa Fe Parkinson’s Disease Action Group and POP Santa Fe
are joining forces to become the
POP Santa Fe Action Initiative!
Working together, we will continue to serve the Parkinson’s Disease community in Santa Fe, Los Alamos, Taos, and Northern New Mexico through boxing, in-gym, in-person, and on-line events.
About POP Santa Fe
Since 2017, POP Santa Fe has been helping people with Parkinson’s Disease through certified instructional boxing training. It is the only gym of its kind in Santa Fe. The PD Action Group’s in-person meetings meet at the POP Santa Fe Gym. The PD Clubhouse has been a sanctioned activity of both groups since 2022.
About the Santa Fe Parkinson’s Disease Action Group
Eight people came together in October 2014 to better address the needs of people with Parkinson’s Disease and their care partners. Karen St. Clair moderated the group and compiled the first Parkinson’s Support group membership list. In 2022, Karen was named one of 10 Who Made a Difference by the Santa Fe New Mexican. In the Spring of 2023 the group became the Santa Fe PD Action Group.
About the Action Initiative
What we are really doing is to unify and simplify our underlying organizational structures. In the coming months, the websites and mailing lists for the SFPDAG and POP Santa Fe will become more aligned. The legal entity of the combined organization will be POP Santa Fe: a 501(c)(3) organization, and the mailing address is unchanged from POP Santa Fe’s.
Our partners and close collaborators, including Rock Steady Boxing, The Memory Care Alliance, The Parkinson and Movement Disorder Alliance, and the Parkinson’s Foundation, will continue to provide resources and co-programming.
Step by step, we’ll keep everyone informed of our progress. We want to make the transition as frictionless as possible for you.
